Same-Day Denture Process

During this visit, we’ll closely inspect your oral health, including your teeth and jawbone, to confirm that same-day dentures are the perfect solution for you. Once everything is set, we’ll pencil you in for the earliest available slot to complete your transformation in a single day. Here’s what you can expect from start to finish with your same-day denture procedure:

• Initial Consultation – We examine your mouth, determine if you’re an ideal candidate for immediate dentures, and answer any questions you have.
• Schedule Your Procedure – If you decide to move forward with it, we will construct immediate dentures to fit your mouth and create a plan for your procedure. We’ll have you back as soon as possible for your procedure.
• Tooth Extraction – Many same-day denture patients require tooth extraction before placement is possible. If this is the case for you, we’ll place the dentures as soon as the extraction is complete.
• Denture Attachment – Once the extraction is complete, the denture is placed. This happens during the same appointment. You don’t have to wait for the extractions to heal.
• Recovery and Post-Operative Care – We’ll provide clear instructions on how to take care of your dentures to ensure long-term success.

How Long Do Immediate Dentures Take?

The amount of time can vary depending on the specifics of your oral surgery, but you should expect the procedure to take a couple of hours. On the day of your procedure, you should plan on spending at least a few hours at our office from arrival to recovery to discharge to going home.

Same-Day Dentures Post-Op Care

Following the post-operative instructions is one of the most crucial steps to ensuring your same-day dentures are successful. Swelling is normal, but it is important to have it under control. Keep your new immediate denture inserted after the surgery for 24 hours without removing it, unless the oral surgeon states otherwise.

During the first 12 months, your ridges, tissue, and gums will have healed and changed shape, requiring a reline of the existing denture or an entirely new one. If you need a new one, additional aesthetic changes can be made to further improve your appearance.
