Same Day Dental Implants

If you have an adequate amount of natural bone in your mouth, you may be a candidate for same-day dental implants, which are also known as immediate load dental implants. When you have this type of dental implant placed, the procedure allows you to have a temporary tooth placed as well. To determine if you are a candidate for this procedure, it requires a dental professional to examine your mouth and determine if an implant and your natural bone are secure enough to support pressure on a temporary tooth.
Mini-Dental Implants
Another type of dental implant is the mini dental implant. It uses small, toothpick-sized dental implants that are narrower than the traditional type of dental implants that are commonly used. The technique to place these implants is less invasive due to their smaller diameter. They are primarily used to stabilize your lower denture.
Single Tooth Dental Implants

A single tooth implant may be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Your dentist will surgically place this type of implant in an opening that is created in your jawbone. The goal of single tooth dental implant procedure is to attach the implant to your bone so that it acts as a new support and “root” for a crown.
Regular Implants vs. Mini Implants
When comparing different types of dental implants, the main difference between regular implants and mini implants is the diameter of the implant. Regular implants are larger than mini implants, and they require an adequate amount of bone structure to be placed. If you’ve had a large amount of bone atrophy, you’re more likely to be a candidate for mini implants.
